TOGETHER

A new play with songs; music by Heather Christian

Right now, in a New York apartment building, multiple lives are unfolding side-by-side. A couple is seducing each other via emojis from separate rooms, a tour guide is going on a metaphysical journey without leaving her fire escape, a Ukranian refugee is kept company by her dark memories and a Preacher counsels his clients on how to be present. With a non-linear, rhythmic style and songs, Together explores how the hell we can possibly be with each other in the digital age.

"Together is a dazzling kaleidoscopic observation of community, not just the collisions and coincidences of urban life, but our more global, existential anxieties about loneliness and connection.  It’s a play that’s as deeply in love with cities and it is concerned with the suffering they contain, and a play that, above all, almost in spite of itself, believes in the power of live theater as a gathering place, and even an antidote to alienation."
